Our Nursery Environment

As a parent of our setting you will have involvement in your child’s care and education, it’s a journey you’re about to take with your child into St Paul’s CE Academy Nursery. You are your child’s first educator, everything they already know is because of you and the experiences you have provided. Together we can establish a consistent approach to incorporate every aspect of your child’s learning and development but also to create safe and secure surroundings for them to engage in and become little explorers.

A woodland theme runs through our setting, the nursery is known as ‘The Burrow’ and within The Burrow we have:-

Rabbits – children aged 2 years (Staffing Ratio 1:4)

Badgers – children aged 3-4 years (Staffing Ratio 1:8)

St Paul’s CE Academy Nursery is purpose built with open surroundings, situated adjacent to the Academy playing field and key stage one playground. Our modern building comprises of a large, bright, light room. An area for the Rabbits to settle at the beginning, middle and end of each day has been created. Our Rabbits and Badgers share the main environment. Within this space we have a well-equipped low counter kitchen, allowing children unique safe access. Our children are able to participate in cooking activities without leaving their main learning environment, meaning they naturally imitate everyday actions and notice detailed features. To the left of our building we have an all-weather, part sheltered garden, known as ‘The Den’. The safety of your children is our highest priority; The Den has a Wet Pour surface which significantly reduces the risk of injuries, providing a safe and enjoyable environment. On the opposite side of our building we have a grassed garden known as ‘The Warren’ obtaining a rustic feel, with a charming wooden house and mud kitchen.
